Story

“From Preah Rumkel, with Love” is a 5-minute documentary crafted by three first-time filmmakers and Geography students from the National University of Singapore. The film aims to shed light on the critical challenges faced by the Irrawaddy Dolphin population in Cambodia, highlighting the unintended consequences of shifting to renewable energy sources like hydropower.

The documentary emphasizes the harmful effects of these dams on the natural environment and aquatic life. The narrative extends beyond the immediate concerns of Preah Rumkel, serving as a voice for the entire Southeast Asian region. The film urges nations to come together to address transboundary issues around the Mekong Delta and collaboratively work towards preserving the delicate balance of the ecosystem.
