In 1965 rebellious teenager Danny Embling is sent to a remote boarding school. African girl Thandiwe is a new student at the nearby girls’ school. When these two misfits meet it feels like they have each found their soul mates.

The delicate  screenplay presents a tender portrait of teenage romance set against turbulent social and political times. Starring Ben Mendelsohn and Thandie Newton in her first major role, and with a supporting cast including Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts, Flirting is a beautiful coming-of-age tale.
